Flat colours Hits: 109 Replies: 3 03 Mar 10 23:03 By: erg121
When I view my pictures in Photoshop through my calibrated monitors the colours in my photographs are rich and true to the original item I photographed.
However when I view said pictures in my gallery on DSLR User the colours seem to be a little flat and there also seems to be less contrast?
Anybody else having this problem?

Frustration Hits: 68 Replies: 2 03 Mar 10 18:03 By: erg121
4 weeks ago I had a kidney and pancreas transplant leaving a 19 inch scar across the base of my stomache.
I have been advised by the hospital not to carry anything heavy for the next couple of months which means I can't take my camera equipment out to take photo's and I'm just finding it so frustrating.
Any thoughts on what I could do?

Dog days Hits: 130 Replies: 1 27 Feb 10 16:02 By: mysnapz
When out to Westonbirt arboretum last week (Sunday 21st Feb) for a Dog day event, looked as if it might offer some opportunities for pictures. When we got there they were running a Cani-x event, this is where owners tether themselves to their dogs and run a off road course sort of rallying for dogs.
Anyways, I stood in on the race briefing to understand what was going to happen, then took myself off around the course looking for a nice spot and to wait for the race to start.
Found a nice muddy corner at the end of a straight through the woods with the sun behind me.
As they started to come through I realised it was not going to be that easy using my 70 -200 lens I juggled with f stops and shutter speeds, going for the owner or the dog or both and trying to stop the action.
Not one team took a tumble into the muddy puddle and the dogs showed great skill in scooping up a drink as they ran through it was all over too quickly but still provided an exciting start to the day. If you have one of these events near you then it is well worth paying a visit.
Thanks for looking in and for your comments. http://www.cani-cross.co.uk/ http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-7XWLBE

Marble Horses Hits: 103 Replies: 0 25 Feb 10 17:02 By: giles900
Hi All,

Below is a shot I took whilst staying at a friends house in Ireland. Unfortunately I was working too early in the morning and not finishing very late at night and didn't get much opportunity to get out. Although I did take a few (see Gallery).

This statue of a [air of horses was in the main corridor of the house with sunlight beaming through the front door at about 7am. I took the chance to take the photo and this is how it came out?

apart from the radiator in the background I am quite pleased with this, however, I always like to hear your thoughts and how it could be improved.

Simon

Nikon Repair Shambles Hits: 198 Replies: 1 23 Feb 10 22:02 By: daiwill60
Recently took my D60 to my local Jessops (where i bought it) after my return from holiday whee my camera decided that the built in flash was not going to work. Funily i had also been querying for some time that there was often diagonal dark areas across mnay pics when using the flash ( both built in or with my SB600 hotshoe flash) and a mirror that made a small movement evertime before actually pressing the shutter release, jessops sent it to Nikon where upon my nightmare with nikon has begun.
Firstly they informed Jessops that the Job in hand would be chargable to to the tune of A £156 repair bill even though it had been registered with Nikon online the day i bought it. Subsequently after about 4 phone calls to Nikon and their Homeserve repair agency, and my finding the registration details on line my self, it was agreed thet th camera is under warranty.
My camera arrived back about 1 week later, and lo and behold it did not want to take any picture at all and their was a rough feeling click on the zoom on the lens ( not there before that), so back to Nikon.
On the next return from Nikon, the zoom clicking feel; had gone but the lens would not focus upto infinity and the camera's mirror now wobbled after each shot, i did mange to take some pics of my daughters Birthday party and then took it back to jessops for return to Nikon. A week later i get another demand for £156 to repair it, this actually after i had added another year extended warranty £41, in the vain attempt to protect myself against accidental damage/ camera replacement, should it ever be needed in the very near future if it should have a collision with a sledgehammer.
Yesterday i was summoned to pick up my camera yet again from Jessops, whereupon after inserting a memcard and a battery we found that the lens still would not focus to infinity, and after constant pressing of the shutter realease the focussing points in the view finder would not work and the the shutter would only work after about 3 -4 attempts, needless to say it is now on its way back to Nikon.
The staff in Jessops have been great and have also been told by Nikon that the problems have nothing to do with Jessops and that I, the customer is the one who should be dealing with Nikon ( why should i have to pay for the pleasure of phoning them, in order to resolve matters arising form their total incompetence and total lack of quality control in their repair department.
I have never come across such incompetency and mishandling of what should have been a simple routine repair task, since trying to sort out a recent BT billing and phone line slamming problem on behalf of a friend last year, but why do i fell that this could be on a close comparison very soon. I bought a Nikon because i thought that Nikon Cameras where one of the best around, maybe they are, but their repair service is the biggest pile of Sh**e i have had the pleasure of dealing with thus far.
COME ON NIKON SORT IT AND YOURSELVES OUT.

Nikon Repair Hits: 389 Replies: 13 13 Feb 10 19:02 By: K4RL
So........ The small catch/lever that releases the opening to the memory card has snapped on my D300 as reported in my thread. I've just finally been able to send it to Nikons repair dept. in Surrey as I've had paid shoots that I had to honour. I posted the body on Thursday 11th February by insured, recorded delivery (£11.10) and received an email from Nikon at 3.00pm on Friday 12th acknowledging receipt of body, strap, no battery or memory card. There is a memory card stuck inside which I will have to point out to them. Watch this space to see A, how quickly the respond with the quote. B, how much the repair will cost and, C, If I accept the quote, how quickly they repair the camera. I'll post details when I have news.

When is a DSLR not a DSLR? Hits: 310 Replies: 2 08 Feb 10 22:02 By: scussons
My husband bought me a Panasonic GF1 for my birthday - what a lovely man. We thought it might be an Olympus Pen but somehow, after thought, it transmogrified into a Panasonic. Can I post pics from it here or not? It has exchangable lenses, but no 'reflex'. There is no mirror. Is DLSRUSER mag definitive? You've reviewed it (and the Pen) therefore it must be a DSLR.... quite excited about the pics..
